Tour Description

Ho Chi Minh’s former name was Sai Gon. A long time ago many tourists viewed it as “a pearl of the Far East”, which may reveal its splendid beauty. Its current name is an expression of the great commemoration of Ho Chi Minh’s Uncle, who was the leader of the nation.
It consists of 18 districts, namely: Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,11,12, Thu Duc, Thu Thiem, Go Vap, Binh Thanh, Binh Chanh, Binh Tan.
For the time being, HCMC is considered to be one of the most dynamic areas of the country – a social, cultural, and economic center of the South. Normally, when tourists come to HCMC, they may enjoy staying in luxurious hotels, and buying things as gifts and souvenirs at shopping centers, especially in districts 1 and 3. Window-shopping is sort of fun but bargaining is necessary.
There are two seasons in a year: rainy and dry season. However, the climate is agreeable. As the conference is supposed to take place in July 2005, visitors staying in HCMC can enjoy a mild atmosphere, although it may remain showery.

  • From the cathedral, take a short stroll along Dong Khoi Street to the Opera House. From a bomb shelter to housing the Parliamentary Lower House, the Opera House has had an interesting history. Restored in 1995 the Opera House has returned to its roots and is once again a theatre.
  • Next, visit the Reunification Palace, once a symbol of the South Vietnamese Government. It was here on 30 April 1975, that the war ended when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates. See the war room, the banquet hall, and the presidential office with the unusual gifts that have been received. In the afternoon continue on to the War Remnants Museum. Here, your guide will tell the story of the city’s darkest and most tragic hours during the Vietnam War. The museum contains displays of military aircraft, weaponry, and many photographs – some that are quite graphic in nature.
  • Have lunch try all famous local cuisines/food and all of the MUST-TRY dishes in Ho Chi Minh
  • Head to Cho Lon – the city’s Chinatown and Thien Hau Pagoda which is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea. With intricate friezes, carved tableaus and impressive incense coils make for some great photos. Then observe street life through the narrow streets to Binh Tay market that sells everything from hats to dried squid!
