Vascular screening with Doppler ultrasound and specialist consultation at a private hospital in Singapore or Hong Kong can cost 2 to 4 times more than at FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. International patients receive the same non-invasive imaging and specialist evaluation, with English-language results, at a significantly lower cost. Sondax handles scheduling, transfers, and support in English from your first message to your final report.
This screening is designed for people at risk of atherosclerosis and vascular disease, including people over 70, regular smokers, and anyone with diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, increased blood homocysteine, or erectile dysfunction. It is also recommended for people who experience dizziness, leg pain, or long-lasting skin ulcers, those with a history of stroke or kidney failure, and anyone with a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm or cardiovascular disease. Patients with risk factors should be screened annually from age 50, and those with severe risk factors may need screening earlier.
Atherosclerosis is a condition where plaque, made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances, builds up inside artery walls. Over time, plaque narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow. Carotid artery disease and peripheral artery disease develop when plaque narrows the arteries supplying the brain and limbs. Hardening of the aorta can lead to an aneurysm, a stretched and bulging section of the artery wall that can be life-threatening if it ruptures.
These conditions are often symptomless for years, which is why proactive screening is essential. By the time symptoms appear, the disease may already be advanced. Detection is straightforward using Ankle-Brachial Index and Doppler Ultrasound, two non-invasive and painless tests offered by FV Hospital.
On arrival you are registered and guided through each test in sequence. The Ankle-Brachial Index with Pulse Wave Velocity is a simple blood pressure comparison between your arms and ankles that takes a few minutes. Doppler ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of blood flow in the carotid and vertebral arteries (which supply the brain) and the abdominal aorta, checking for narrowing, plaque build-up, or aneurysm. No needles, injections, or fasting are required. A Phlebologist or Vascular Surgeon reviews all findings with you in English before you leave.
FV Hospital offers 2 optional add-ons alongside this screening. The add-on items were not fully visible at the time of listing. Please contact Sondax for the current list and pricing of available add-ons for this programme.
The patient may need to perform additional tests as directed by the doctor. All prices are per person and subject to change without prior notice. The full screening takes approximately 4 to 6 hours.
